Club Program (2022)

At the present time its still very difficult to plan a club program due to covid related issues. Although things are not too bad with the latest COVID variant for those who are fully vaccinated, it does still knock you for six, plus club attendance is about 50% down on previous years.

Annual General Meeting

26th October 2022

19:30 Club QTH

Our last AGM was 3 years ago and Covid meant we had to stop meeting during lockdown and unfortunately some of our club members caught the virus and others were reluctant to meet in a social setting. Unfortunately Ron G4DXW our club President/Chairman caught Covid last week and is recovering at home, he is keen that we go ahead with the meeting this week in his absence. Several members have left the committee to pursue other interests. The three existing committee members (Ron G4DXW, Tracey M5ATR and Alan G8XLH) look at this as an interim AGM until the club gets back on a firm footing possibly next year. As we have not collected any Annual Subs for several years it impossible to define who is a club member so we are starting with a clean slate.

Other News

This will be the last meeting we will have Nora (M0NUR) as a regular attendee as Nora is returning back to her home country of Slovakia in early November. Nora has been an enthusiastic club member and progressed through all  levels of the licence in a matter of a few months. We hope to hear her operating from her home country using her call OM1OW. Nora hopes to visit the UK from time to time especially for the January Sales. We wish her good luckon her ventures.

Andy M1NER (Whittlesey) is looking to sell an Icom 746 which he purchased from the club. He is now the owner of an Icom IC705. He is looking for £210. Andy can be contacted via the club or QRZ.com.

Training Courses

The club is not currently offering any training courses or exams due to the Covid 19 situation plus lack of demand. You can sit the exam on-line via the RSGB.  If you wish to self-study see “Essex Hams” website. Please note the RSGB have now dropped the requirements for practicals. There is also now a Direct route to the full exam, without doing the foundation and intermediate levels.
